Fashion Editorial Brief

We were given a Fashion Editorial Brief to work on for PPP, and put into groups of four to work together. The brief was:
To produce a range of Fashion photographs for a brand editorial for your client that will be used in a 4 page editorial about a brand in a magazine.

You MUST produce a 4 page fashion editorial spread.
Within this spread you must include at least:-
1 Long-Shot
1 Close-Up
1 Mid- Shot
You can use post-production on your images and you will be required to use some element of flash photography, either within the studio or hand-held fill or use of the ranger kits on location.

I was in a group with Luke, Karen and Jessie, we decided to take images for the 'Barbour' brand, for Tank magazine. We wanted to look at creating a twist on the classic Barbour image and making it more edgy. I was 'Model Liason and Clothes Stylist' which basically involved arranging times and places with the model and helping on decisions with make up and clothing etc. We decided to shoot at Kirkstall Abbey as the area still has the classic country image that Barbour is usually associated with, however the building being in ruins, showing that the old Barbour style has gone. It was a ridiculously cold, windy and rainy day which meant we were challenged to work quickly, in some shots this worked well to create atmosphere.

The feedback we received from the group was that we had done well in re-creating the Barbour brand, however that the images weren't suited to Tank magazine, which I totally agree with when looking back on them. I think this was due to all of us concentrating more on how we wanted to portray the Barbour brand which maybe made us forget our target audience, this was useful to learn the importance of this. Overall it was an enjoyable brief, working in a group on a fashion shoot is something I'd never done before and now feel more confident doing.
